ISS is not the only place for your student-athletes can get a rich sport environment. There are many clubs among the greater Stavanger Kommune where student-athletes can go better their skills and find more competition. Below are some of the contacts that ISS has shared over the past couple of years.

If you decide to play for another idrettslag in a sport, for example football, but would like to compete for ISS in the same sport, you must notify the Athletic Director before this is allowed. There are forms to fill out and permission to obtain. If you have any other questions please email us and we will try our best to help you find what you need.

              BERSERKER TAG RUGBY CLUB

Who: All boys and girls aged 6-12 years

When: Every Saturday during the school term, 9.30am

Where: Revheim School (close to ISS)

I know.....you just got your Saturday mornings back after the soccer. Well, I wanted to highlight another sports club that runs on a Saturday morning aimed at the 6-12 year olds that is a lot of fun and runs throughout the year (weather permitting).

The Berserker Tag rugby club started 2 years ago and as described below is primarily about having a fun run around, while teaching the basics of rugby in a completelynon-contact form of the game. The players wear belts around the waist with tags that need to be pulled off to act as a "tackle". The basic skills to all games such as teamwork, running, passing and supporting are a major focus of the coaching, and the typical session mixes fun games (like spiders and flies), a bit of skills practice, and ending with a game. Children are generally split into 3 or 4 groups depending on age and ability so no previous experience is necessary. Through a set of "core values" a strong emphasis is placed on teamwork and respect for the other players and coaches/refs.

We generally have 20-40 boys and girls, from both the British and International schools, and a lot of the soccer players are already part of the group. If you are interested please contact either of the names below, send an email, or just come down on a Saturday and try it out. The location is the Revheim school plastic pitch (very close to the ISS), starting at 9.30am.

Hope to see you down there,

              Steve Oxford
